Below you’ll see our range of sports massage courses.
The Sports Massage Course is recognised by the Complementary and Natural Care Council (CNHC) and the General Council for Massage Therapies (GCMT).
Who is this qualification designed for?
Learners must be 16+ years old. Whilst there are no other specific entry requirements an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) is involved and learners should have basic skills in communication pitched at level 3. Performing sport massage is a physical activity and learners will need to be fit enough to carry this out.
The qualification has been designed for:
- Individuals who wish to work and/or seek employment as a therapist
- Individuals considering a career in active leisure
- Individuals already working in the active leisure sector wishing to enhance their career progression opportunities.
The Sports Massage qualification will enable learners to work as a sport massage therapist in a variety of organisations, such as therapy and rehabilitation clinics, wellness clinics, spas, coaching facilities, fitness facilities and sporting organisations.
This qualification is suitable for anyone who is looking to start a career in the health and fitness sector, but also for already established Personal Trainers, Group Exercise Instructors and Fitness Instructors. Sports massage not only helps relieve stress and help clients on the path of recovery post injury, it also helps recovery between training sessions. Therefore, if you are a Personal Trainer or Coach, by adding S.M. to your skill set means you no longer need to refer clients to therapists and also results in another revenue stream and service for you to offer your clients.
Our courses are typically delivered over 6 days with an additional day for the assessment. During the 6 day delivery you will cover Anatomy and Physiology for Sports Massage, how to subjectively and objectively assess clients, pre event techniques, post event techniques as well as various methods for dealing with a variety of injuries and strains. This course is extremely practical, as are all of our training programs, as we believe there is only so much you can learn from a book and the best way to learn is to do.
Our tutors are all specialists in their areas and this no different for our Sports therapy course. All the tutors have a vast amount of experience working with the NHS, private clients, professional athletes and even at the Rugby World Cup wit professional teams.
We currently deliver our courses in Manchester and Cardiff.
